Dr. Mae Chiu obtained her Honours Bachelor of Science and Doctor of Optometry degrees from the University of Waterloo. She completed clinical externships in Hong Kong and in Canada specializing in ocular pathologies as macular degeneration, glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy and cataracts. She received further training in the areas of specialty multifocal contact lens fittings and co-management of refractive laser and
cataract surgeries.
Dr. Chiu is certified for prescribing therapeutic agents. She is a member of the Canadian Association of Optometrists and Ontario Association of Optometrists. Dr. Chiu enjoys travelling and trying out different cuisines from all over the world. Dr. Chiu is fluent in English and Cantonese.
Dr. Kin Fong graduated with his Bachelor of Science and his Doctor of Optometry, both with honours, from the University of Waterloo in 1994. He also completed an externship at a Kaiser Permanante HMO in Washington, D.C. He has published articles in scientific journals including the Canadian Journal of Optometry and Current Eye Research. He is currently a member of the Canadian Association of Optometrists and the Ontario Association of Optometrists. He enjoys seeing patients of all demographics, and welcomes all patients to the clinic.
Professionally, he has mostly been in private practice. He has also worked as a laser surgery co-managing optometrist at Beacon Laser Centre and TLC.
In addition to English, Dr. Fong can conduct eye exams in Cantonese. He would welcome patients to awaken his dormant broken Hebrew and German as well.
When not in clinic, Dr. Fong’s passion is wanderlusting, and has been to many exotic places. Some of his favourite visited locales include Ethiopia, South Africa, Aitutaki, Easter Island, the Galapagos, Honduras and Belgium. He grew up in Kitchener Ontario, but has also spent formative time living in Hong Kong and Israel.
Dr. Yolanda Evans completed her Bachelor of Science at the University of Waterloo and continued on to Boston, MA for her Doctor of Optometry degree at The New England College of Optometry. Progressive in its profession, Dr. Evans gained valuable clinical expertise in the US in primary care Optometry, ocular disease, and treatment and management of ocular disease.
She trained in Toronto, her hometown, at the Vision Institute of Canada where she gained a wealth of knowledge and practise in pediatric, children, and special needs eye examinations and care.
She graduated in 1998, and has been practising in the greater Toronto area ever since. Part of that time included staff Optometrist at TLC-The Laser Vision Correction Centre-where she advanced her skills in laser vision correction consultations, patient selection and care.
Over two decades of practicing Optometry, Dr. Evans remains forever passionate about providing optimal eye care and is committed to educating patients of all ages on maintaining and preserving vision and ocular health. She knew it was her true calling after her first visit with her Optometrist when she was a teenager. Her special interests are in Comprehensive Optometry and specialty contact lens assessments and fit (ie multifocal/astigmatic design).
She is a member and active volunteer of the Ontario Association of Optometrists, and a member of the Canadian Association of Optometrists.
Dr. Evans maintains a balanced life through fitness, meditation, living a conscious lifestyle, and spending time with family and friends. She speaks fluent Greek.
Dr. Chau graduated from the University of Waterloo School of Optometry. She completed her rotation training in various aspects of Optometry including ocular diseases, pediatrics, contact lens, and LASIK/PRK co-management.
As part of her training, she also interned at a group Ophthalmology practice in Scarborough where she gained extensive clinical experience in managing ocular pathologies such as cataracts, macular degeneration, glaucoma, and diabetic retinopathy. She is a member of the Canadian Association of Optometrists and the Ontario Association of Optometrists.
She enjoys getting to know her patients so that she can provide personalized eye care that will result in a better quality of life. Outside of work, she enjoys travelling with her husband Jason. Some of her favourite places that she has travelled to include Peru, South Africa, and Patagonia.
Dr. Brady, originally from Nova Scotia, Canada he received his undergraduate degree from Acadia University. In 2002, he received his Doctor of Optometry degree from the New England College of Optometry in Boston in 2007.
Externships including co-managing surgery at an ophthalmology clinic, binocular vision/pediatric care and ocular disease management at a veteran’s hospital. After graduating, Dr. Brady moved to Toronto and joined the practice in 2007. He is an active member of Canadian Optometry Association, Ontario Optometry Association and is board certified in both Canada and the States.
Dr. Puka completed his Bachelor’s degree in Molecular Biology at the University of Toronto and went on to obtain his Doctor of Optometry degree from the Illinois College of Optometry in Chicago. While in Chicago Dr. Puka saw a wide variety of patients in primary care at the Illinois Eye Institute and gained experience in pediatric care by examining elementary school children in the Chicago Public Schools system. Dr. Puka worked with a multitude of pre and post-operative surgery patients at The Eye Foundation of Utah in Salt Lake City and received extensive training in ocular disease at the Huntington VA in West Virginia. He completed his internship in contact lens and vision rehabilitation at the Ochsner Clinic in New Orleans.
Dr. Puka stays involved in the community and is often invited to speak about Optometry at local highschools. In his free time, he enjoys playing soccer and traveling.
Dr. Mahwish Khan completed her Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences at McGill university in 2013. She then went on to obtain her Doctor of Optometry degree from the University of Waterloo.
As part of her clinical training, Dr. Khan completed an externship in therapeutics and ocular disease at Omni Eye Services in Atlanta. She gained expertise in treating glaucoma, diabetes and other eye conditions. She also successfully completed several primary care rotations around Ontario.
Dr. Khan is passionate about the profession of Optometry and is an active member of the Ontario Association of Optometrists and the College of Optometrists. She enjoys working with patients of all ages and is always excited to meet new people!
Outside of work, Dr. Khan enjoys travelling and spending time with friends and family. She is proud to be part of the team and looks forward to providing quality eye care to her patients.
Dr. Lewis Morgan joined the Dr. Chiu, Dr. Fong & Associates in 2019 and has brought his best foot forward to help provide amazing eye care for all our patients. Dr. Morgan graduated from the University of Toronto with an Honours Bachelor of Science before attending and graduating the University of Waterloo with a Doctor of Optometry.
Outside of his work at Dr. Chiu, Dr. Fong & Associates, Dr. Morgan is also a member of the College of Optometrists of Ontario as well as a member of the Ontario Association of Optometrists.
When Dr. Morgan isn’t in the office, he likes to spend his free time working with computers and tech, reading, and walking.
Dr. Sana Owais completed both her Doctorate in Optometry (O.D.) and her residency in low vision rehabilitation from the University of Waterloo. Due to her commitment to life-long-learning and patient care, she also received her fellowship with the American Academy of Optometry (F.A.A.O) designation. She did her Honours Bachelor of Science degree in Biology (Physiology Specialization) from McMaster University where she graduated summa cum laude and with Deans’ Honour. During her optometry training she was recognized with the VSP/FYidoctors Practice Excellence Scholarship and the Gold Key International Optometric Honour Society Award. She is passionate about co-managing ocular disease including, glaucoma assessments, diabetic eye exams, and dry eye assessments. She also does eye exams catered towards pediatrics, geriatrics, and contact lens fits (toric, multifocial, cosmetic lenses). Dr. Owais is a member of the Canadian Association of Optometrists and the Ontario Association of Optometrists. She is proficient in English and conversational in Urdu. In her free time she likes to explore bookstores and tune into CTV/CBC news.
Dr. Aponso graduated from the University of Waterloo School of Optometry. She was trained in primary care with a focus on contact lenses, ocular disease, diabetic eye exams, and dry eye disease. She completed externships in Newmarket where she worked alongside ophthalmologists to evaluate conditions such as macular degeneration, glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, and pre/post-surgical care. She believes in patient-centred care with an emphasis on addressing patients’ visual needs and ensuring good ocular health.
Dr. Aponso is a member of the Ontario Association of Optometrists. She is proficient in English and conversational in Sinhalese. In her spare time, she enjoys baking and spending time outdoors.
